The Podcast: 14th Week of Ordinary Time: A New Format and a New Focus.
For July 1-4
Our first week with new format began on July 1 (Tuesday) One program per day covering the daily reading and daily teaching and talk for the everyday Catholic and other Christians. This week: From Jacob to Israel, Selling Joseph into Slavery, Families, Forgiveness, Name Changes and More.
Explanation of the image above:
When I was outside of the Church, my favorite image was the Last Great Act of Defiance. (Click here for the image, be aware there is a vulgar gesture in the image)
When I returned to the Church, I realized that as much as I loved that image, that the true last act of defiance is Jesus on the Cross. So I asked Heart and Hands Creative to put this together and he did this.
Now symbols in it: The skulls represent those forces that bring death upon us: Addiction, Anger, Greed, Vengeance, anything that brings death upon you. They are made impotent in Christ.
The Eagle represents Exodus 19:4 where God says to the Jews that he raised them up on Eagle’s Wings. That also inspired the song. The eagle is arriving in the background now that evil is defeated.
The bony hand represents the last gasp of death unable to do anything but point to the great act of Jesus on the Cross for us.
The defiance is not the defiance against the Church or against political powers but the defiance against the forces that seek to dehumanize us, demoralize us and even destroy us some are in the Church and others are outside.
So, our podcast will deal with some controversial topics that I could not address on radio but will be bring entertainment and education to the listeners.
