Nisha, thank you for this article. Yes, I am white and live in New England, but I speak three languages and work in different cultures. I am often assumed to be Hispanic and indeed at an event in Florida last month and eating in a Cuban restaurant, someone asked if my name is Juan.
Producers and editors do not understand how they skew toward a view that is predominantly white. So they just continue the narrative. They are blind to it and meanwhile those who are aware of it see how blatant it is.
The world is more varied, eclectic, gifted and diverse.
