My First Draft of my homily for this weekend
Keeping in mind the words of Ernest Hemingway in his description of the first draft of anything, you can see the first draft of my homily this weekend.
Jesus talks about inviting the poor and lame to your parties. However, what does that really mean for us in today’s world?
Many of you know that I research my homilies every week but there is nothing in the Catechisms (Trent and Vat II) that cites this verse. There is only one or two documents that cite it.
So I go with more reflection of who are the poor in our world and took the point then to ask who are the rich?
If you want to read the first draft you are welcome to do so by clicking here.
I will revise it somewhat more and remember what I can and then deliver it at St. Anthony Parish in Allston, MA on Saturday and Sunday. A recording of the homily will be part of the final version.
